About us
Fifty-Six Capital is a London investment firm built on more than seventy years of Swedish manufacturing. We combine the patience of a family business with the standards of an industrial operator.
Our history
It started with metal. In 1956 a small works in Sweden began machining precision components for industry, and it is still doing so today, on a floor where robots tend the lathes.
Metal led to lifts. Platform and home lifts designed in Sweden and built in factories in Sweden, Italy, Türkiye, India and China are now sold through partners in more than 60 countries, and the UK business is the country's leading supplier and installer of platform lifts. The group produces a lift roughly every 32 minutes, employs more than 1,300 people and has put well over 200,000 lifts into homes and buildings around the world.
Fifty-Six Capital is the investment firm that grew out of that history.
What we do
From London we invest our own capital in early-stage companies. We make a small number of investments and are actively involved in each of them, leading rounds, sitting on boards and advising founders, in the same way our businesses have always been run.
What we look for
We invest in early-stage companies that have early commercial traction: paying customers, active users or a product already in the market.
We look for founders with deep knowledge of their industry, supported by a board that brings experience and judgement.
We make a small number of investments and size them properly, so that each company has our full attention.
